With miles of unspoilt coastline, a busy harbour, important naval & yachting heritage and stunning views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight, Gosport is an ideal destination for a Festival ... and a holiday.
Gosport has a fine tradition of staging relaxed, safe and friendly music festivals dating back to 1991. The annual Gosport & Fareham Easter Festival features top celtic, folk and roots bands from across the globe while the Gosport Waterfront Festival features local, tribute and nostalgia bands playing classic rock & more.
There are many other attractions worth a visit. The Royal Naval Submarine Museum and Explosion - The Museum of Naval Firepower both tell the story of Gosport's links with the Royal Navy going back hundreds of years while Fort Brockhurst and other Palmerston Forts from Victorian times are open to the public as is Spitbank Fort out in the Solent which was built to protect Portsmouth Harbour from enemy ships.
You can enjoy a 5-minute ferry trip on the Gosport Ferry across Portsmouth Harbour to Portsmouth itself where the historic Naval Base is open to the public as is HMS Victory, HMS Warrior and the Mary Rose, all just a couple of minutes walk from the Gosport ferry pontoon.
If you fancy a slightly longer trip on the water then head across the Solent to the Isle of Wight. The FastCat service to the Island departs from right alongside the Gosport ferry pontoon. And don't forget to take a trip up the Spinnaker Tower and enjoy stunning 350° views from 170 metres high above Portsmouth Harbour and the historic Naval Base.
If you prefer to stay on dry land why not take a walk in the woods and enter the Wildgrounds just across the road from our Festival site? There's a brand new BMX Track for the energetic but for those who just prefer a quiet walk you can stroll by the River Alver or go back in time to 1642 and the 17th century village where the villagers in period costume will be happy to talk about their daily lives.
Nearby Alverstoke is a sleepy village with attractive church, village shops and The Crescent, an imposing building similar to that in Bath, faced by the award-winning Crescent Gardens.
Returning to Gosport itself why not visit The Oakleaf Brewery in Mumby Road where you can pull your own pint or one of the many historic public houses serving a wide range of real ales. The Cocked Hat and The Seahorse are both just minutes from our Festival arena and both serve excellent food as well.
